81, of Pueblo, went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2009. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria L. Carrero; grandson, Angel Luciano Rael; parents, Francisco and Teresa Carrero-Virola; father and mother-in-law, Feliciano and Louisa Ramirez; brothers, Roberto, Francisco "Tato," Luis, Charlie and Pepe; sister, Sylvia; and in-laws, Antonio Gomez, Benito Gomez, Augustina Flores, Freddie Ramirez and Mary Medina.
Survived by his children, Sylvia (Wyndel) Jones, William (Tanya) Carrero, John (Patricia) Carrero, Christine Carrero, Rosemary (John) Ceplo, Carmel (Edmund) Rael, Debra (Efrem) Salgado and Brenda (William Cano) Carrero; 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Emilio Carrero; brother-in-law, Hector; sister-in-law, Carmen Carrero; in-laws, Mary Louise (Gavino) Granillo, Nellie (Alvaro) Lazaro, Petra Simental, Guadalupe (Margaret) Gomez and Magdalina Gomez; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
William was a retired registered nurse for the Colorado State Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country proud during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed all sports, but mainly baseball, boxing and bowling. Before his wife passed, he and Maria had been known to clear the dance floor with their salsa dancing.
Rosary service, 6 p.m. Thursday, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Funeral Mass, 2 p.m. Friday, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Cremation to follow. Family and friends will be received at the church hall following both services. Military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
