Caroline Carrie (McCurdy) Cantonwine, the daughter of James and Caroline (Baker) McCurdy, was born in Massillon, Cedar Co., Iowa. Although her headstone shows her birth year as 1868, the 1900 census for Junction Township, Greene Co., IA, shows her birth date as August 1871 and the 1880 census, where she is listed as one of eleven children, her age is shown as 9 (= abt 1871).
Caroline married David W. Cantonwine about 1895. David was the son of David "Doc" and Cynthia (Irish) Cantonwine and the grandson of Charles and Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine.
Caroline and David had two children, Daisy Viola (b. 16 Apr 1897) and George Sylvester (b. 23 Jun 1903). Caroline lived most of her life in Iowa but after the death of her husband David in 1928, she and her son George moved to Jackson, Blue County, MO, where she worked as a trained nurse and George worked as a laborer in an auto factory. Caroline's daughter Daisy married Howard Ingertson and had two sons, John Leo and Thomas.
