The following information is from Ann Koch who is a Cantonwine researcher.
John Mann Turner, the son of Allen and Annie Turner, was born in Mount Pulaski, Logan Co. Illinois and was married to Rebecca Cantonwine on April 8, 1866 in Vancouver, Clark county, WA. Rebecca was the daughter of Dr. Charles A. & Julia (Denslow) Cantonwine and the granddaughter of Charles and Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine.
John and Rebecca had six children: Charles (m. (1)Margaret Allison (2) Ida Pendleton, (3) Tena Green), Minnie, Ida, Eva (m. J. Slaughterback), Oscar (m./div. Leona), and Harry. It appears that John and Rebecca later divorced as the 1900 census for Washougal, Clark Co., WA shows John, age 63, divorced, and living with his daughter Eva's family.
John served in Co. D, 1st Reg. Oregon Mounted Volunteers, Indian War 1855-1856. On the application form for the Orting soliders home, it says John was five foot five inches and he was light complexioned and he was 81 years old when he went into the soliders home. He died at Orting, Pierce Co. Washington.
