Mr. Arnold, serving in Porter's Regiment, was captured in Adair County, Missouri, on October 20, 1862. Papers reported that Mr. Arnold was from Shelby County, Missouri.

He was forwarded to the Gratiot Street Military Prison in St. Louis, arriving there on November 6, 1862. He died eighteen days later, from pneumonia. He was originally buried at the Wesleyan Cemetery, in St. Louis.
