Glass artist and designer. Born in Steinschoenau, Bohemia, Austria. Educated at the Imperial Technical School. Employed at Smith Brothers, Jesse Dean and Mount Washington Glass companies. He was employed by C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden starting in 1886. When the company was incorporated he became a stockholder and was made superintendent of the plant. In 1903 he opened his own corporation called the Helschmied Mfg. Company, Reservoir Avenue, Meriden, CT. He was a member of the Woodmen of America and the Colonial Club in Meriden. He was survived by his wife and daughter.
