CAPT. WILLIAM BALL, Jr., (8--2), of St. Mary's Parish, Lancaster Co., Va., b. June 2, 1641, in England; d. Sept. 30, 1694, in Virginia; made will Sept. 28, 1694; probated Nov. 4, 1694; m. (first) Mary or Margaret Williamson, dau. of James Williamson, of Rappahannock Co., Va.; (second) Miss Harris, of Bay View, Northumberland Co., Va.; (third) Margaret Downman, dau. of Rawleigh Downman. (It is not positively known that Capt. Ball married thrice, but it is positively known that he married Margaret Downman, and the other marriages have the authority of long accepted tradition.) Issue:

9-2. Richard, Capt., of Lancaster Co., Va., b. 1677; d. 1726; will probated Feb. 3, 1726; m. 1700, Sarah Young, d. 1742; will dated Aug. 6, 1742; probated Sept. 10, 1742.
9-3. JAMES, b. 1678;
9-4. Joseph, Capt., of Coan, Northumberland Co., Va., b. 1680; d. 1721; will dated Oct. 19, 1720; probated Sept. 15, 1721; m. Mary Spencer, dau. of Col. Nicholas Spencer, of Northumberland Co., Va., who served as a Burgess, 1666, and was appointed Indian Commissioner, 1676; Secretary of the Colony, and of the King's Council, 1681; and President of the Council from 1683 to 1684, and had issue.
9-5. George, Capt., of Wicomico, Northumberland Co., Va., d.1746; will dated April 14, 1746, probated June 9, 1746; served as Justice and member of the County Court, 1729, 1731 and 1741; and as HighSheriff, 1743; m. (first) Miss Hayhie; (second) Grace Waddy, and had issue.
9-6. Samuel (twin), of St. Markes Parish, Culpeper Co., Va., b. Sept.26, 1686; d. 1751; was one of the first Vestrymen of St. Mark's, 1731; m. Nov. 25, 1717, Ann Tayloe, and had issue.
9-7. David (twin), b. Sept. 26, 1686; d. Dec. 14, 1732; m. (first) Mary-; (second) May 29, 1727, Ellen Heale, dau. of George Heale, of Lancaster Co., Va.; his wid. m. (second) Dec. 20, 1736, Moore Fauntleroy.
9-8. Stretchley, d. young.
9-9. Margaret, d. 1758; will dated Sept. 13, 1758; m. 1715 Rawleigh Downman, son of Rawleigh and (Travers) Downman, of Lancaster Co., Va., and had issue.
