Juanita May Mitchell Cantonwine
Funeral services for Juanita May Mitchell Cantonwine, 86, of Sheridan will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with Scott Rauscher, Donovan Olson and Clarence Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Mitchell died Monday, June 26, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. She was born May 1, 1920, in Pillager, Minn., to John and Elizabeth Mitchell. The family moved to Washington when she was 3 years old. She married Carl H. Cantonwine [son of Claude R. & Margaret E. (Fehling) Cantonwine] in 1944. She was a private secretary to the president of Bellingham Publishing Co. and worked for the War Manpower Commission until World War II. During the war, she worked as a Navy welder, building minesweepers. She and her husband ranched in north Idaho and Wyoming until retiring in 1981. They lived in California and Plentywood, Mont., before moving to Sheridan two years ago. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Survivors include her husband [died 1/10/2007]; two daughters, . . . a son, . . . ; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
