Services for Effie Mae Bell, 90, of Killeen, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home. Burial will be at Killeen City Cemetery.

Mrs. Bell died March 17, 2011, at her home in Killeen. She was born Nov. 26, 1920, near Maxdale, to Jesse Brown and Clara Maud Wallace Brown.

She married Oliver Henry Bell on Oct. 26, 1938, in Florence, with the Rev. Hill officiating.

Mrs. Bell lived most of her life in the Killeen area. She attended school in Okay and graduated from Killeen High School in 1938.

She worked in the laundry at Fort Hood for a short time and retired from the Killeen Independent School District in 1988 after 22 years as a cafeteria worker.

She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Texas Retired Teachers Association.

Mrs. Bell's husband, Oliver, was a member of Carpenter's Local Union No. 1971 in Temple. She proudly supported him by being an active member of Ladies Auxiliary No. 596.

On June 27, 1955, she joined Killeen Rebekah Lodge No. 232. She was honored as a veteran life member after 50 years of continuous membership.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Oliver Bell; her parents, Jesse and Clara Brown; three brothers, Jesse Othalee "Slim" Brown, Wallace Ray "Fat" Brown and Alvin Clarence "Red" Brown.

Survivors include a son, Clarence Oliver Bell of Killeen; a daughter, Alice Marie Bell of Killeen; a very special sister-in-law, Beatrice Shed; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
