Nicolas came to Quebec in 1665, with the Carignan-Salieres Regiment, probably to help build forts between 1665 and 1668. Nicolas arrived in Quebec again in 1670. Nicolas married Madeleine Despres, on 15 September 1670, in Saint-Famille, I.O.
