William A. "Bill" Hermreck, 80, Osawatomie, died Sept. 8, 2010, at the Life Care Center in Osawatomie.

Bill was born Sept. 10, 1929, at Scipio, Kan. He was the son of Nicholas Christopher and Odelia Caroline Bowman Hermreck. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1948.

He was united in marriage to Norma Lee Tyler on April 19, 1951, in Garnett. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of three children.

He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He entered the military on April 30, 1951, at Kansas City, Mo. He was honorably discharged Jan. 29, 1953, at Camp Crowder, Mo. After his discharge from active duty, he transferred to the reserves for five years.

He worked for Fluor at their Paola plant which later became Taylor Forge. He began there in 1953 and retired in Janurary of 1995. He worked in their quality control department as manager.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie. He was also a member of the Osawatomie VFW where he had served as post quartermaster from 1978 to 1988, the Osawatomie American Legion where he was finance officer, the Osawatomie Elks and had also been very active in Boy Scouts. Bill was one of the people who helped coordinate many events including community Bingo nights at the American Legion in Osawatomie.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Bob, and a sister, Sharon Brady.

He is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; his son, Michael of Osawatomie; two daughters, Susan Troxel of St. Cloud, Fla., and Lu Ann Hermreck of Olathe; his sister, Ruth Zwiener of Garnett; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday followed by burial in the Osawatomie Cemetery with Military honors. Arrangements were by the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main St., Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913)755-2114.

Pallbearers were Dave Bueker, John Bueker, Ken Butler, John David Cole, Galen Critchfield and D.J. King.

Memorials are to the First Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie.
