Marlyn Kay Kratzer Brady Coleman (1939-2004)

RENO, Nev. - Marlyn Kay Kratzer Brady Coleman, 64, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Winnemuca, Nev. Mrs. Coleman was born June 30, 1939, near Geneseo in Ellsworth County, to George and Pauline (Hedrick) Kratzer.

She was a former elementary teacher, having taught in Manhattan, Fort Riley, Kansas City, and Wichita. In 1989, she started Marlin's Finest Gourmet Foods and ran it for several years. She attended Geneseo public schools and Stephens College, Columbia, Mo. She graduated from Kansas State University, Manhattan. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority.

In 1979 she married Ken Coleman, who survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her father. Other survivors are her mother Pauline Kratzer Lyons; two brothers Gary Kratzer and Don Kratzer and wife Judith Geneseo; three step daughters, Elizabeth O'Brien, Kathy Diamond, Debbie DeAngeli, all of Reno, Nev.; four grand-children; and four nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were today [Apr 15]at Geneseo Cemetery, Rev. Lyndelle Linde officiating. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or Sunflower Estates. Lyons. Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, was in charge of arrangements.

RENO, Nev. -- Marlyn Kay Brady Coleman, 64, Reno, died Friday, April 9, 2004.

Mrs. Coleman was born Marlyn Kay Kratzer on June 30, 1939, in rural Geneseo, Kan. She was a teacher and operated Marlin's Finest Gourmet Foods.

Survivors include her husband, Ken of the home; her mother, Pauline Kratzer of Lyons; two brothers, Gary Kratzer and Don Kratzer, both of Geneseo; three stepdaughters, Elizabeth O'Brien, Kathy Diamond and Debbie DeAngeli, all of Reno; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Geneseo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society or Sunflower Estates, Lyons, in care of Sillin Funeral Home, 214 West Ave. South, Lyons 67554.
