Eugenia Elizabeth Sheffield Sharp of Kerrville, Texas passed away on March 6th, 2012 at her home surrounded by people who loved her. She was born on September 18, 1928 in Hare, Texas to Johny Bell Kennedy Isaac and Cullen Isaac. She was later adopted by her stepfather, Jim Cook Sheffield, who would remain her loving father until his death.
She attended schools in the Austin area until the war broke out and she and her Mother and Father moved to Washington, DC. There she attended William and Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia. She was a cheerleader and won the award for Best Jitter-bugger and the Most Popular. She was affectionately known as Texas Sheffield and the name that stuck through out her life was Tex. She started college at the University of Virginia but fate would intervene and she would meet the love of her life, William Allen (Bill) Sharp, just home from the war and the Navy. It was instant love and they married and started their life together on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, or VPI which is now Virginia Tech. A daughter, Brenda, was born who sadly passed away at 2 weeks of age. Then another daughter, Theresa, was born. When Bill graduated as a civil engineer so began the life of moving from state to state, 2 more daughters, Debra and Kim, were born and a life of travel, love, and laughter. For a while upon returning to Houston, Eugenia was a real estate agent. When Bill retired, they moved to Kerrville to be near daughter, Kim Parker and their beloved grandsons, Schreiner and Tobin, Jr. Parker. Eugenia was an Episcopalian and did volunteer work in Houston and Kerrville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johny Bell Sheffield, Jim Sheffield, Cullen Isaac; beloved husband, Bill; daughter, Brenda; brothers-in-law, John and Jim Sharp and Walt Ensdorf; and sister-in-law, Woody Sharp.
Eugenia is survived by daughters, Theresa (Terri) Sharp, Debra Sharp Cooper, husband, Gary, and Kim Sharp Parker, husband, Tobin, all of Kerrville; beloved sister, Gail Sheffield Ensdorf of North Andover, Massachusetts; grandsons, Schreiner and Tobin, Jr. Parker; grandson, Bruce Evans, wife, Tammy of Mill Creek, Washington; granddaughter, Buffy Merrill Holcomb, husband, Jason of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Ruby, Merrill, Ava, and Lillian; and nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 12th at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Kerrville with The Reverend Stockton Williams officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Glen Rest immediately following.
