RAPID CITY—Frank M. Kober, 95, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Monday, October 25, 2010.
He was born on November 27, 1914, in La Porte, IA, to Frank William and Allie (Ballheim) Kober. He grew up in LaPorte and attended school there. He graduated from Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa.
On July 3, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Gannon. The couple lived in Waubay, where Frank taught and coached basketball. They then moved to Belle Fourche, where he continued to teach and coach basketball and eventually became Superintendant.
In 1951 the family moved to Rapid City, where Frank started his career with First National Bank. He retired as Executive Vice President in 1977.
Frank was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Rapid City Elks Lodge, Lions Club and Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathleen Kober, Rapid City and Kerry Kober, Denver, Colo.; 2 sons, Kris (Barbara) Kober, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Kelly (Cathy) Kober, West Chester, PA; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Kober, Irvine, Calif.; 8 grandchildren, Scotty, Kord, Kelsey, Jim, Kory, Brittney, Kaitlyn and Jesse and 4 great-grandchildren, Shae, Khai, Kheo and Kameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, in 2003, a son, Kim in 2010, a sister and a brother.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 5 until 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Andrzej Wyrostek presiding.
Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
