Paul Anthony Sainer, 47, of rural Newton, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at Potter's House Ministry Church in Newton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with Ron Mulvey officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Newton. Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sainer was born March 18, 1960, in Blue Island, the son of George A. and Jean A. (Gronkowski) Sainer. He married Karen M. Eidman on July 21, 1984, in Mascoutah. She survives.
He graduated from University of Illinois in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in Music and received his master's degree in Music from Eastern Illinois University in 1993. He was a band director at schools in Hillsboro; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Newton; and Dieterich. He taught vocal music at Olney Central College for the past nine years. He composed "Jesus: Words and Verses" cantata for choir and orchestra, as well as dozens of praise and worship songs. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and son-in-law and was a very active member of Potter's House Ministry Church in Newton.
Mr. Sainer is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen Sainer, of Newton; sons, Gregory P. and Jacob T. Sainer, both at home; father, George A. Sainer, of Ft. Worth, Texas; brothers, David Sainer, of Fox Lake, and George Sainer and his wife, Julie, of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister, Cheryl J. Sainer, of Milwaukee, Wis.; and mother- and father-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Eidman, of Mascoutah.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1999.
In loving memory of Mr. Sainer, memorials may be made to Gregory and Jacob Sainer's Education Fund.
