Rev. David L. Carter, of Wellington, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at his residence in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 83.

David was born the son of Thomas Raymond and Mary Elizabeth (Wagner) Carter on Friday, May 11, 1928 in Wellington, Kansas.

On August 29, 1948, David and Carole Bertrand were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Reverend D.L. Carter was an ordained minister for The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He and his wife spent a lifetime ministering at various churches across America.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Carter of Wellington, Kansas; son, Rick Carter and his wife Nancy of Denver, Colorado; son, Tim Carter and his wife Diane of Monroe, Louisiana; son, Kerry Carter and his wife Di of Santa Fe, New Mexico; granddaughter, Stacy Carter of Monroe, Louisiana; brother, Arlys Carter and his wife Jan of Derby, Kansas; brother Ray Carter of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Mary (Wagner) Carter; one sister Dorothy Agnes Babcock; one brother Carol Dean Carter and his grandson, Jeffrey Carter.

Funeral services for David will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the First Christian Church, Wellington, Kansas with Pastor Don Bryant officiating.

Interment will follow at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.

Memorials have been established in his loving memory with Alzheimer's Association - Sunflower Chapter, 347 South Laura, Wichita, Kansas 67211. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
