Peanut came to our house as a foster dog. She was 11 1/2 years old. She had spent her entire life in a kennel. Her teeth was mostly gone but otherwise she was very healthy. She and I became attached quickly. We adopted her a few months later. She became my hero. For a dog who hadn't had a good life, she adapted very quickly to a life of leisure. She only trusted me but she totally trusted me. When I carried her, she would curl up those long legs and fit perfectly in my arm. She became blind over the three years she was with us. She was a tough old girl and determined to defend her space. The other dogs seemed to know this. She was a six and half pound Miniature Pinscher who changed my life.
I still get tears in my eyes when I think of her. Some thought she wasn't pretty but she was beautiful to me both inside and outside.
This quote was shared with me by sniksnak and is so meaningful: "Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it so much the larger and better in every way." ~ John Muir, American Naturalist
