Mr. Gary Mac Calvert, age 72 of Madisonville, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at his home. Mr. Calvert was born May 5, 1934 in Houston County near Lovelady to Austin M. and Minnie Bell (Hill) Calvert. Mr. Calvert was a resident of Madisonville for 23 years having come from Missouri City, Texas.
Mr. Calvert graduated from Sam Houston University in Huntsville in 1958. Mr. Calvert and his wife owned and operated United Arts & Crafts, Inc. Mr. Calvert enjoyed watching all sports and loved the Texas Aggies even though he went there only one semester. Mr. Calvert served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the North Madison Church of Christ. He had a great love for his family and church.
Survivors include his wife Jimmie "Jo" Calvert, of Madisonville; son and daughter-in-law Gary Lee and Shelly Calvert, of Anna; daughters and sons-in-law Anne and Glenn Pace, of Ft. Worth, Nell and Wayne Ard, of McKinney; sister Helen Chandler, of College Station; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paul and Johynie Park, of Huntsville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Barney and Betty Carroll, of Lovelady; and 12 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents Austin M. and Minnie Bell (Hill) Calvert; and three sisters Ruth Carroll, Lois Jeffus and Faye Chandler.
Funeral Services for Mr. Gary Mac Calvert were held Saturday, March 31, at 2:00 p.m. at the North Madison Church of Christ with Mr. Lanier Stevens officiating. Interment followed at 4:00 p.m. in the Antioch Cemetery near Lovelady.
Pallbearers were H.D. Jeffcoat, Bill Culp, Warner Stewart, Perry Pace, Ben Waldrip, Jr. and Brandon Calvert.
