T.C. was short for Thunder Chicken.
She was an American Eskimo dog first owned by our son.
He had to give her up when he found he couldn't afford the monthly fee in his new apartment.
T.C joined our family and our dog ,Beau(an Australian Shepard),who was also adopted by us after his owners also found they couldn't keep him because they lived in an apartment and had a new baby.
Now,I know you're wondering how the name, Thunder Chicken, came about.
My son had his puppy out in a park one day and there was a flock of birds on the ground. She ran after them and when they took off, well, she ran away --from them!
I think that was the only time this alfa female ever ran away from anything.
T.C and Beau bonded but she definatly was the boss even though half his size.
She was a great comfort to me when we had to have our gentle, loving Beau to rest.
We took her with us so she could say good-by to Beau. On the way, she was with me in the front seat of the car.I started crying and all of a sudden, she pushed her body against my chest as if she was giving me a hug.
After we moved into a house with no fence, T.C. had her fun! We put in an electric fence --forget it! She would wind up ,run around, and take a dive OVER the electric fence! We put up a regular fence. However, this was no help when we had a major snowstorm. The drifts were jusr over ther top of our fence. Looking out, there was T.C. out of the yard and near the above ground pool. Panic!
We managed to get to her and ended digging a trench by that side of the fence. Later, we looked out and there she was, near the back fence and decided to join the neighbor's children who were sleigh riding down the hill. Needless to say, we had to dig another trench!
T.C. lived to 16 years of age.
T,C.was a challenge, a comfort and a joy. We miss her.
