"Akron Stabber Escapes While Scores of Picnickers Gather
AKRON - July 6, Joseph Krumeich, 23, was stabbed and killed by a man who escaped at the Wioga Lake bathing resort, six miles north of Akron near State road, late Sunday according to deputy sheriffs, as he was protecting his father, Theodore Krumeich, an owner of the resort.
Krumeich died a few minutes after being brought to St. Thomas hospital here.
He fell, witnesses said, with a deep stab wound, inflicted with the knife with which his assailant had just lunged at the elder Krumeich. Scores of picnickers, gathered at the resort, saw the stabbing.
'Be careful, he's got a knife!' spectators shouted at the young man as he ran to his father's side. The attacker, spectators said, became enraged at the elder Kruemich's order not to overload a rented boat.
The knife wielder escaped in an auto. He was first seized and then released by mistake in the confusion by the victim's brother, Edward Krumeich.
Then the assailant drove away through the woods fringing the lake. Deputy sheriffs immediately began searching for him and the authorities of adjoining counties were given his description."
