Steve Bilko
Birth: Nov. 13, 1928
Death: Mar. 7, 1978

Major League Baseball Player. Born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, he was a first baseman making his debut with the Saint Louis Cardinals on September 22, 1949, at age 20. For ten seasons, he was mostly a utility player with the Saint Louis Cardinals (1949-54), Chicago Cubs 1954, Cincinnati Reds 1958, Los Angeles Dodgers 1958, Detroit Tigers 1960 and Los Angeles Angels (1961-62). He finished career with 432 hits, 220 runs scored, 76 home runs, 276 runes batted in, .249 batting average and a .992 fielding percentage. He died at age 49 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Known for his achievments when he played in the minor leagues, he was posthumously inducted into the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame in 2003. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
