Carl was born to Heiro Alkali (Cale) Fauver and Martha Jennie (Beckham) Fauver in Ridgeville Corners, Henry County, Ohio. He had one older sister, Helen Pearl, and two younger brothers, Curtis Walter (1883) and Charlie Clare (1885). In April 1907 he married Jessie Lodema Clingaman. They lived on the farm that her parents had purchased and house they had built. He spent most of his life as a farmer on the Clingaman/Fauver farm. When his son, Stanley, graduated from school, he helped Grandpa farm and after Grandpa retired, he did all the farming.
Carl and Jessie took care of Daniel Clingaman, Jessie's father, until Daniel's death at the age of 104Y-4M-23D.
At one time, Daniel, Carl, Jessie, my parents and I all lived at the same home. In 1950, after Carl retired, they (Daniel, Jessie and Carl) moved to the town of Wauseon.
They had two grandchildren and since I was five years older than my brother and a girl, I think I was special to them. I spent as much time as possible at their home. Grandpa would walk me through town and visit his friends. At some point in our trek, he would get me a popsicle. He always had some kind of candy in a drawer. My favorite was the maple leaf candy. He was a loving and kind grandfather. He spoiled me just a little bit.
He lived on his own in his home until he fell and broke his hip. He died on his 94th birthday. He knew when I visited him in the hospital that he was going to die. I'm so thankful we had as much time together as we did.
