Death: May 6, 1980

Author. Her most important works was the short novels "The Last Fog" and "La Amortajada", which won the Novel's Prize by Santiago Municipality in 1941. In 1942 she moved to California after the movie rights were bought for "The Last Fog". There she worked with John Huston, director of the project, who called Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart for the leading roles. In 1947 she rewrote the novel with the title "The House of Mist" and wrote the screenplay for the film, but the hearings into Communism in the film industry initiated by Wisconsin Senator Joseph R. McCarthy, stopped definitively the project and she moved to New York City, New York. She was married to Argentine painter Jorge Larco. (bio by: Errete)
