William L. Gahlman

William Leo "Bud" Gahlman, 83, was born to Eternal Life Sept. 7, 2009.

Bud was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Beaver Dam, the son of William T. and Marie (Yagodzinski) Gahlman. He married Carole Klink on Aug. 3, 1957.

Bud graduated from Juneau High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving from 1943 to 1946 while stationed in Guam. Upon his return from service, he worked at Dairyland and was a rural temporary mail carrier. Then he worked for Schoenwetler Plumbing & Heating, went to school, and worked for Herb for 12 years before buying him out and starting Gahlman Plumbing. His business life ended in 1983 when he became disabled.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 15, past president and life member of Juneau Rod & Gun Club, Juneau Sporting Club and Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon. When Bud was younger, he played hardball for the Burnett team, and loved to hunt, fish and garden. He was an avid Brewer and Packer fan.

Bud is survived by his wife, Carole; his daughters, Bernadette (Steve) Mueller, Juneau, and Cheryl McKinlay, Lodi; his son, Robert (Brenda) Gahlman, Beaver Dam; his grandchildren, Jeremy and Peter Mueller, Marc and Matthew Miller, Auburn Gahlman, Megan Vanderventer, Jayne Bergemann, Molly McKinlay; his great-grandchildren, Corey and Brianna Miller; his sister, Betty (Harold) Brieman, and his sisters-in-law, Marge Gahlman and Dorothy (Robert) Strassman. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Joan, one daughter, Pamela Miller, and two brothers, Donald and Frederick (Fritz) Gahlman.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 950 Washington St., Horicon. Mass of Christian burial will follow at the church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Petrie will officiate. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Juneau.

Memorials to the Food Panty at Sacred Heart Parish would be appreciated.

Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.
