Helen O. Johnson, 84, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, March 1, 1998, in Carilion Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born August 19, 1913, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Frank Lee Overstreet and Norma Scott Creasy Overstreet. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin D. Witt, and a son, Lavender D. Witt. She was a member of Ephesus United Methodist Church. She is survived by her second husband, Thomas Lester (``Buck"") Johnson; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl A. and Rosalie Witt of Bedford; a daughter and son-in-law, Fay W. and Jackie Preston of Huddleston; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Witt of Warner Robbins, Ga.; two brothers, Elton Overstreet of Motley and Horace Overstreet of Altavista; a sister, Lois Virginia (``Katie"") Updike of Lynch Station; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1998, in Leftwich Cemetery by Dr. Patrick Simon. Friends may call after 12 noon Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Updike Funeral Home in Huddleston.
