John Christopher Witt was a Member of Captain D.W. Roberts, Company D, Texas Ranger Frontier Battalion. He joined the unit in Junction on Dec 18, 1875 and completed his service on May 31, 1879. 2nd great grandfather was a blacksmith. He married Henrietta Elizabeth Lange on Sep 12, 1882 in Kerr County.

Witt - Died on Sunday, June 22, 1924, John C. Witt, beloved husband of Mrs. John Witt, in his 60th year. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, June 23, at 4 p.m. at the late residence, 320 Biddle Street, South San Antonio, under the direction of the Shelley Undertaking Company. Besides his widow, he is survived by two children, Mrs. Jessie Roberts and Mr. J. Witt, Jr., both of San Antonio. Internment will be in the family plot in the Lutheran Cemetery.
