Leverett E. (Jim) Bolin was born Feb. 1, 1914 to Dewey and Lula (Allison) Bolin at Eminence, MO. He passed away at his home in Eminence on March 24, 1998 after an extended illness at the age of 84 years. He attended grade school at Munsell and finished his education at Eminence High School. He was married to Berniece Baker on November 26, 1933. To this union two children were born; a son, John Jay and a daughter, Marilyn Sue. Jim was baptized at an early age and remained a member of the Eminence Baptist Church. He held various jobs including operating a sawmill, highway construction work, and farming. His most memorable and fulfilling job was as Shannon County Sheriff for eight years. He later moved from the farm to a location nearer Eminence to spend time doing his favorite hobbies: tending his vegetable and flower gardens. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lula and Dewey Bolin; his son, Jay Bolin; and one brother-in-law, Richard Sapp. He is survived by his wife Berniece Bolin of the home; his daughter, Marilyn and husband Curtis Bland of Eminence; and his sister, Evelyn Sapp of Birch View Nursing Center of Birch Tree, MO; seven grandchildren, Jim Bland of Springfield, MO, Tony Bland of Eminence, MO, John, Steven and Christie White of Oklahoma, David and Johanna Bolin of Springfield, MO; and eight great grandchildren. He was a good father, grandfather, and a wonderful great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Friday, March 27, 1998 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence with Rev. Alan Stringer officiating. Interment was in the Munsell Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
