Mrs. Chas. M. Brown.
Miss Betty Elizabeth Straube, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Straube was born at Lebanon, Nebr., June 23, 1892, and died at her home in Beaver City, Nebr., Saturday morning, November 1, 1919, at 9 o'clock, aged 37 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Her life was spent in and near Beaver City, where she attended high school and after her graduation with the class of 1911, she taught school with marked success.
She was united in marriage to Chas. M. Brown, July 22, 1914, and to this union two children were born. Chas. Tilson, aged 4 years and Carol Elizabeth, aged 2 years. At about the age of seventeen years she gave her young life to the Savior and united with the Christian church of Beaver City, but later removing to Hollinger her membership was removed to that of the United Brethren Church, of which she was a much beloved member at the time of her death.
She leaves to mourn her untimely departure, her husband, two children, father, Chas. Straube, two brothers, Fritz and Wilhelm Straube, of Beaver City; three sisters, Mrs. John Perkins of Stamford, Nebr., Mrs. Della Brown, of Hendley, Nebr., and Mrs. Robert Volgamore of Beaver City; besides a large host of other relatives and many dear friends. Her mother preceded her in death about ten years ago.
Mrs. Brown was an ideal mother, and efficient home maker, a loving wife, active in Christian work in the church and Sabbath school, beloved by her scholars in both Sabbath and day school.
Her pride and Joy found its sweet expression in her home life, with loving kindness to her husband and her children. Her only regret was that she should not be permitted by her Master to do more for him, her children and home.
After long and patient suffering, she bid her little family good bye, only as a true Christian mother can, and commended them to the care of her Heavenly Father. She went home without a struggle or the least sigh of suffering in her last few moments on earth.
Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord, yea saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors and their good works do follow them.
A short service was held at the home in Beaver City at 1 o'clock, Monday, November 3, and funeral services were held at the Bethel church southeast of Beaver City at 2:30, after which interment was made in Bethel cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Wm. W. Stanley, pastor of the Beaver City Christian church.
