Richard "Dick" V. Wagner, 85, of Marysville, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Memorial Hospital.

He was a retired auto salesman.

One of the oldest members of Marysville First United Methodist Church, he served on many different church boards throughout the years.

He was a 1946 graduate of Marysville High School. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a former member of the Marysville Lions Club and the Marysville Chamber of Commerce.

A "Jack of all trades," he was able to fix anything. He was an avid OSU football and Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed fishing and John Wayne and Chuck Norris movies.

He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Greencastle, Ind., to the late Louis F. and Dorothy G. Vail Wagner. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Wagner, and sons Larry Whaley and Richard Steven Wagner.

He married the former Violet "Vi" M. Cook on Aug. 15, 1964, in Hamilton, and his wife of 48 years survives. He also is survived by children Patricia (Emmett) Whiteaker of Delaware, Sharon (Douglas) Thomas of Hamilton, Susan (Carl) Spain of North Lewisburg, Gloria (Robert) Walter of Perrysburg, and Brenda (Kevin) Retzlaff of Columbus; grandchildren Cindy (Larry) Poling, Jeffery Kirk, Peg (Dan) Hall, Laura (Jerry) Ramsey, Melissa (Kip) Owens, Rhonda (Terry) Johnson, Christy Schlenk, Lea Ann and Heidi Whaley, Lindsay Mahardika, Brian Walter, Nicki (Don) Boitnott, Todd (Wendy) Spain, Nancy (Dave) Borror, Marlena (Shawn) Crabtree, Jessi Wagner, Julie (Tony) Perry and Timothy Baker; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m.. at Marysville First Methodist Church with the Rev. Aaron Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
