Former Secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and Archbishop of the Titular See of Drivastum, Monsignor Traian Crisan was born in Iara, Cluj, Romania, on May 21, 1918, and was ordained to the priesthood on March 25, 1945, for the Diocese of Cluj-Gherla.
Undersecretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome between 1979 and 1981, Crisan was appointed Secretary of the named Congregation on December 7, 1981, by Pope John Paul II, receiving his episcopal consecration with the Titular Archbishopric See of Drivastum on the following January 6, from Pope John Paul II, assisted by Archbishops Eduardo Martínez Somalo and Lucas Moreira Neves OP.
Resigning from office on February 24, 1990, Monsignor Crisan passed away in Rome on the following November 6, aged 72.
