Father Romuald Otto Läber was born on May 2, 1924, in Döttingen, Canton of Aargau, Switzerland. After attending the Seminary School of Einsiedeln, he entered the Novitiate of the Charterhouse of La Valsainte, where he took his Simple Vows. For health reasons he left the Carthusians after seven years and entered the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln, where he took his Solemn Vows on March 21, 1953. After his ordination in that same year, he became Curate for three years in St. Gerold. In 1956, he became Pastor of Blons and remained there until the year 2003.
Father Romuald was known for his great humility and kindness. For hours, he was to be found in the confessional, and celebrated the Eucharist for the elderly and infirm Benedictine brothers. He was an example in prayer and brotherly coexistence.
Dom Romuald died after a short illness on Monday, January 3, 2011, in his 87th year. Burial was held at the Monastery of Einsiedeln on Saturday, January 8.
