James Eugene Adams, of Greenfield, Mo., departed this life on Sunday, January 29, 2006, in the Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon, at the age of 81 years. He was born on November 16, 1924, in Bolivar, Mo., to Ulla F. and Virginia E. (Campbell) Adams. James was united in marriage to Geraldine Margaret Hall on October 3, 1942, in Greenfield, Mo. They shared 62 wonderful years together.

James was a graduate of Dadeville High School. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. James was a farmer and worked for the MFA Exchange as a District Manager and managed local exchanges in the area. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon for many years and also taught Sunday School. James was also a member of the Greenfield American Legion Post #47 and the Men's Civic Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife, Geraldine Margaret Adams on October 20, 2004; and one brother, Kenneth Adams. Survivors include two sons, James Lee Adams and his wife, Brenda, of Greenfield, Mo., and Dr. John Wayne Adams and his wife, Cheryl, of Hurricane West, Va.; two brothers, Allen Adams and his wife, Joyce, of Jasper, Mo., and Don Adams and his wife, Jean, of Greenfield, Mo.; two sisters, Peggy Harp and her husband, Ken, of California and Wanda Hull and her husband, Jerry, of Greenfield, Mo.; six grandchildren, Tracy Haist and her husband, Mark, of Nixa, Mo.; Lance Adams and his wife, Jill, of Carl Junction, Mo.; Matthew Adams and his wife, Dawn, of Nashville, Tenn.; Nathan Adams and his wife, Lori, of Nashville, Tenn.; Andrew Lee Adams, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and Mandy Link and her husband, Scott, of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services were held at Wednesday, February 1, 2006, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harold McMasters and Pastor Ollie Adams officiating. Burial followed in Hampton Cemetery with full military honors and conducted by the Greenfield American Legion Post #47. Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church building fund. Services were under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
