He was the son of the late Charles Henry and Mrs. Margaret Mulligan Wingfield and the husband of Mrs. Mary Alice Revell Wingfield.
A native of Portsmouth, he lived in Norfolk 18 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a retired plumber.
Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, James S. Wingfield Jr., Charles J. Wingfield and William T. Wingfield of Norfolk; two sisters, Sister Rose Cecilia of the Dominican Order, Passaic, N.J., and Mrs. T.L. Horan of Portsmouth; and a brother, Charles William Wingfield of Richmond.
A funeral service will be conducted today at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery with Foster Funeral in charge.
