Mr. Akers was born in Breckenridge, Texas on November 22, 1924, and died at his home in Taft, California on Monday July 10, 1989.
During World War II he served in the United States Army and attained the rank of staff sergeant.
He had lived on the West Side for the past 20 years. He was employed by Chevron for over 30 years.
Mr. Akers is survived by five sisters.
