George Adam, 77, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at home.
He was born July 20, 1933, in Algonquin, to Walter and Anna Adam.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on June 25, 1951, serving until June 25, 1954. He served as a military police officer.
He worked for Jewel for 35 years in management. He was an avid gardener and an all-around craftsman. He was a big sports fan who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Bob (Diane) of Elgin and Tim of West Dundee; a daughter, Kathy (Katt) of Elgin; four grandchildren, Brian, Alison, Nicole and Christopher Adam; and a sister, Darlene Felgenhauer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanne, to whom he was married for more than 50 years.
The visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, 51 Center St., Elgin. The visitation will continue from 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, until the noon service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1111 Jan St., Elgin. The Rev. Martin Balzer will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
