Chuck was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but we take comfort in knowing he is in God's loving arms and at peace. Chuck was employed by the Arkansas Department of Human Services as a Geriatric Case Manager. At one time, Chuck worked as an EMT for Methodist Healthcare in Memphis, was an Alcohol and Drug Counselor for Memphis Recovery Centers, was an AIDS Counselor for Friends for Life, and was a social worker with several other agencies. In his intuitive and caring manner, Chuck did an exceptional job in "making a difference" in many people's lives. He was a 1979 graduate of Robert G. Cole High School, San Antonio, Texas. He held a B.S. Degree in Social Work from the University of Memphis and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He was very active in the Mankind Project, Friends for Life, Memphis Recovery Centers, and AA of Memphis. He most recently celebrated his AA birthday with 22 years of sobriety. He was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church. He is survived by his beloved parents Rev. Dr. Robert B. Howerton, Jr. and wife Geraldene of Memphis, TN; siblings: Mary Jane Howerton Carroll and her husband Michael of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert B. Howerton III of Memphis; grandmother; Ms. Bessie Daffron of Mountain Home, Arkansas; uncle: Richard Daffron; niece: Jennifer M. Carroll; nephews: Matthew W. Carroll, Robert B. Howerton IV, Nicholas C. Howerton, Wesley A. Howerton; and cousin: Trema L. Daffron.
