|Birth: ||Apr. 16, 1922|
|Death: ||Jan. 26, 2007|
He was born in Heralds Prairie Township, Illinois, the son of Henderson and Dora Estelle (Henson) Martin. He married Mildred Louise Austin on April 25, 1944. She preceded him in death on Aril 23, 1992.
He is a veteran of the US Navy and served in World War II. He was also a carpenter.
He is survived by six children, 11 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, and two siblings. He was preceded in death by two siblings.
He held a special place in his heart for his grandkids and great-grandkids. They always loved going to his house for a weenie roast. They loved helping him out around his property, too... whether it be picking vegetables in the garden, feeding/watering the dogs, or 'picking' the eggs from the chicken coop. They loved seeing the new baby bunnies and getting to hold them when they were old enough.
The great-grandkids especially loved finding the blue eggs that one of the chickens laid. He got so upset when his chicken that laid the blue eggs got too old, so his daughters bought him new chickens for his birthday a couple of years ago. They didn't want him to feel bad because the little ones wouldn't have blue eggs to 'pick.'
He was also a great storyteller. He would always tell stories of when he was younger, or when the kids were younger. They would always make us all laugh.
(I'm looking for more pictures to add in the near future.)
