At the time of his enlistment into the 2nd Arkansas Infantry, Company "K" at Clarksville Arkansas on the 7th of December, 1863 he gave his age as 44 years and place of birth as Pulaski County, Kentucky.

Listed in the 1870 Boone Co., AR Census, Sugarloaf Twp, p. 484. Listed as Taylor & Elender Kirk.

Military Record: KIrk, Caleb, 2nd Ark Inf. Co., K on his Federal grave marker in Boone Co., AR., Enon Cemetery.

Caleb was tried and aquitted of murder in 1869 in Fort Smith, AR. After the trial was moved from Franklin Co., AR, apparently due to the amount of publicity surrounding the case. After he was aquitted he moved near Lead Hill, Boone Co., AR Where he lived until he died at an old age, he passed away there and is buried in the Enon Cemetery.
