Obituary Friday, October 16, 1931
Grant Cremer, a resident of Grant Park for the past twenty-five years, and a former resident of Momence, passed away very suddenly at his home there Monday evening at 5:00, his death following an illness of only a few days.
He was 68 years of age and was one of a family of ten children born to J. M. and Martha Gable Cremer. Two brothers and two sisters of the family survive.
He was born in Wayne County, IL, and lived near Momence, at Elwood, NE, and at Grant Park. He was united in marriage to Amanda L. Wells on February 29, 1888, by Rev. J. Mercer of Momence. To this union six children were born of whom two sons survive. Alvin M. of Momence and Eldon of Detroit, MI; also six grandchildren, who with the widow, survive the deceased.
He also leaves two brothers, Frank of West Frankfort, IL, and J. L. Cremer of Elmwood, NE; two sisters, Mrs. Wallace Hess of Momence and Mrs. Charles Ohm of Elmwood, NE.
Mr. Cremer has resided in this community for many years, and was an industrious, hard working man, a splendid citizen and enjoyed the respect of all who enjoyed the privilege of his acquaintance.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Odd Fellows and Masons.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 pm at his late residence in charge of
Rev. D. F. Wilson, pastor of the grant Park M. E. Church. Interment was made at Union Corners Cemetery.
Several relatives from Momence attended the funeral.
