Alvina Marie Bohn, daughter of Edward J. and Augusta A. (Boehnke)Bohn, was born June 19, 1892 at Algona, Kossuth County, Iowa.
On June 12, 1920 Alvina married Otto Walter Hollatz, son of August and Augusta Hollatz at St. John's Lutheran Church Garner, Iowa. To this union three children were born; daughters Etta Marie, Doris Enga and son Clayton Walter. Otto and Alvina lived on the home place north of St. John's Church in Concord Township Hancock County, rural Garner. Their three childred were born there.
In 1931 Otto died from blood poisioning at the young age of 39 years. He is buried at St.John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Garner. Alvina and her three children moved to Garner where they lived until the children were through school.
After World War II, when the children were estsablished and working, Alvina moved to Kansas City, Missouri to make her home with her son Clayton who never married.
In 1985, due to ill health she was forced to go to a nursing home in Kansas City. She lived there for 2 years before her death at the age of 88 years, 5 months. She is buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
