William Herman August Lemke, son of Henry and Albertina (Schlawin) Lemke, was born April 30, 1886 in Garner and attended the rural school of Hancock County.
On April 6, 1910, he was married to Ethel Whitney at Britt. The couple farmed in the Liberty Township area until moving into Garner in 1948, where Bill worked as a carpenter.
Mr. Lemke was a Mason, a member of the United Methodist Church, on Liberty Township Schoolboard and had served on the board of directors of the Klemme Creamery.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, in 1969, his parents, four sisters and six brothers.
