Polly Hicks was born on Jan. 30, 1832 in Springfield, Vermont, the daughter of Eaton and Susan (Wheeler) Hicks.
She moves to Montgomery County, Indiana, as a small child with her family and there she meets and marries Ezekiel Oliver Schenck on April 20, 1848 at the age of 16 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Schenck move to Sherburne in Will County, Illinois by 1850 and a couple of years later to Momence, Kankakee County, Illinois where all of their children were born: Sarah, Joseph, James, and Mary. E.O. Schenck enlisted on the Union side by 1863 and in that year was a causality of the Civil War as he drowned in the Mississippi River one mile below Vicksburg.
In 1865 Polly remarried to a man named Cunningham Scott but it was an unhappy marriage and shortly ended in divorce.
Her third try at marriage was to "Bud" Bradford Webb Clark in about 1872 in Indiana. It was his second marriage. They lived in Papineau in Iroquois County, Illinois for a short time before moving to Osborne County, Kansas in 1885.
By 1890 Polly is a widow and migrates out to Oregon with her children where she lives out the remainder of her life.
