Anthony Lombardi, 72, of Manalapan, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, he has resided in Manalapan for 40 years. He was a communicant and usher of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan and a member of the Knights of Columbus Prince of Peace Council. Tony worked as a printer for over 30 years at the Daily News in New York before retiring in 2001. He served in the National Guard for 10 years and was an exempt member and past president of the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Harriet; two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Edna of Quarryville, Pa., and Mark and Susan of Portsmouth, N.H.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruthanne and Michael Lennox of Manalapan, and Jennifer Lombardi and Peter Luizzi of Brick; two brothers, Harry of Long Island, N.Y., and Jack of Sayre, Pa.; a sister, Jennie Tambasco of Gouldsboro, Pa.; and six grandchildren, Katharine, Megan, Chou, Kristin, Stephanie, and Cynthia.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 294, Englishtown, NJ 07726-0294.
