FRED BRENTSON CREEL
Fred Brentson Creel was born in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS degree in Business and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi.
He served as a Bombardier in the US Army Airforce with the 8th AF, 303rd Bombardment Group during World War II as a 1st Lt; was held as a POW in Barth, Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart for combat injuries.
Mr. Creel worked as an auditor in Birmingham and Anniston, AL, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and keeping a beautiful yard, was an avid sports fan, especially Alabama football.
He moved to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1994 and was a member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. He was a gentle, loving Christian man and will sorely missed.
Mr. Creel was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Dotson Creel and two sisters, Polly Evers and Ebie Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty N. Creel; a daughter, Rhonda McClellan (David); granddaughter, Sarah McClellan and grandson, Michael McClellan.
Visitation will be held from 10-11am Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church with services beginning at 11am at the church with Dr. Herb Sadler, Rev. Ruth Knights and Rev. Neil Epler officiating. Burial will be at 3pm, Monday, September 22, 2008 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church or the Leukemia Society AL/Gulf Coast Chapter, 100 Chase Park South, Suite 220, Birmingham, AL 35244.
HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
