Death: Jun. 10, 1863
Winchester City
Virginia, USA

Pvt Lewis Ring, a member of the 116th Ohio Volunteer Regiment, Co A, had engaged the enemy at Moorfield, Va, on Jan 3, 1863. It was a short skirmish with both sides retreating to their camps to regroup just outside of Winchester, VA. During the regrouping the fever hit camp and more than half of the troops fell sick including Pvt Ring. On June 11, 1863, Lt J. Manning listed Pvt Ring on his casualty sheet as a casualty of Typhoid Fever and his personal affects were provided to his brothers Benjamin and Jacob. At this time we have not found where his final resting place is located.
