Charles W. Crouse, a well known citizen of Hanover, died suddenly of heart failure early Wednesday morning aged 49 years, 8 months and 26 days. He appeared in his usual health when retiring and about midnight his wife was awakened and called him and receiving no reply went to his bedside and found him dead.
He was the son of the late Emanuel and Rebecca Crouse and was born on the old Crouse homestead near Littlestown, Nov. 27, 1873, and in 1903, married Miss Cora MaeWitman of York, and two years later moved to Hanover where he has been employed since in the C. Moul & Co. planing mill. He took an active part in lodge work and fraternal circles, being a memberof the P.O.S. of A. of the A.O.K. of M.C., Knights of Malta, Brotherhood of America, Independent Order of Americans. He was a member of the Hanover Methodist Episcopal Church.
The funeral will be on Monday, services by Rev. J.B. Brenneman, of the M. E. Church, with interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.
He leaves his wife and one daughter, Miss Emma Mae Crouse, at home and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Samuel Fox, of Harney, Md.,; Israel, Samuel and Augustus Crouse of Littlestown; Mrs. William Kump of Emmitsburg, Md.; Mrs. William Aulthouse of Gettysburg and Howard Crouse of Kingsdale.
