Mary Brandner was born on July 29, 1926, to Simon and Johanna (Braun) Werlinger at their homestead near Hague, N.D. While living in Herreid she worked for the Herreid Good Samaritan Center and at Gene's Jack and Jill.

Mary enjoyed crocheting, cooking, canning, and making her famous homemade buns. She was always very proud of her children and her grandchildren.
