Raymond A. Harp died in the line of duty in Germany on August 14, 1945. He had served with the combat engineers as a private in Hawaii, Belgium, Alsace-Lorraine, France, Czechoslovakia and Germany. He had been awarded the Division Unit Citation. Harp entered the service in 1940 and trained at San Luis Obispo, Calif. Before that time he was engaged in farming.
Hanford Soldier Dies In Germany
Mrs. Claudia Harp, of Hanford, has been notified by the war department her husband, Private Raymond A. Harp, 28, stationed with an engineer combat unit in Germany, died August 14th. Details were not disclosed.
Harp was assigned to General Patton's 3rd Army and participated in the campaigns in France and Germany.
He was a native of Oklahoma.
Besides his widow, he is survived by his father, John T. Harp, Ponca City, Okla.; two brothers, Hubert Harp, Hanford, and Fred Harp, Earlimart; three sisters, Mrs. Dorotha Calahan and Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Hanford, and Mrs. Edna McKee, Pond Creek, Okla.
