Mrs. Eliza Piatt Died
Just as we were about to go to press last night, our Shelburn correspondent, Mrs. W. H. McLain, phoned us that Mrs. Eliza Piatt had died at 6:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wolfe. For several years Grandma Piatt had been partially paralyzed, and a few weeks ago she fell out of a chair and broke her paralyzed arm, since which time she had been gradually sinking. She is survived by one son G. W. Piatt of Springfield, Mo and the daughter with whom she lived. No arrangements have as yet been made for the funeral.

Eliza Piatt (nee Riggins) was born in the state of Ohio on Aug 9, 1842, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wolfe, near Shelburn, Linn county, Oregon on the 3rd day of February, 1926, aged 83 years, five months and 25 days. In 1846 she, with her parents moved to Vernon, Iowa where in 1863 she was united in marriage to Ephraim Piatt. To this union were born three children, two girls and one boy-Mrs. Quincy Crumes, deceased; George, who lives in Missouri and Mrs. Etta Wolfe of Shelburn, Oregon. Ephraim Piatt, the husband passed away on March 1, 1922. She leaves to mourn her departure one son, one daughter, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother Geo. Riggins, and a host of friends and neighbors. In 1875 the family moved to Oregon, where she has since resided. About 40 years ago she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, and she maintained a Christian spirit to the end of her earthly pilgrimage, and it is well that her spirit be relieved of its carnal bondage and enjoys a fuller experience of Heavenly Joy and freedom. Funeral services were conducted at the Shelburn church last Friday afternoon by Rev. W. H. McLain, and interment took place in Miller cemetery.
