Jack McCormick, a BAR gunner, was one of the original members of Baker Company. He was promoted to Private First Class on January 11, 1944, and was shipped to Namur two days later. He survived the fighting for Kwajalein atoll, but was less lucky on Saipan; McCormick was wounded and evacuated on June 16, 1944.
PFC McCormick returned to duty in the fall of 1944. He carried his BAR in the battle of Iwo Jima until he was killed in March, 1945.
He is buried in a private cemetery in Nebraska.
