Virginia Mae Kelley Estes, 84, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in San Jacinto Church of Christ with Mike Suiter, Bret McCasland and Eddie Messer officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.
Mrs. Estes was born in Quanah and graduated from Quanah High School as salutatorian. She married James L. Estes in 1937 at Quanah. She had lived in Amarillo for 50 years.
She was a homemaker and did volunteer work for Heritage Convalescent Center for 30 years. She was a member of the ladies Bible class at San Jacinto Church of Christ. She and her husband were longtime members there.
She was preceded in death by a brother, V.W. Kelley, in 1959.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Barbara Smith Messer of Amarillo and Donna Corder of Clarendon; a son, James R. Estes of Amarillo; two sisters, Nancy Behrends of Dallas and Monte Prude of Midland; two brothers, Dr. Charles Kelley of Plano and Roy Kelley of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice; or High Plains Children's Home.
